Elke Pahl-Weber studied Architecture in Hamburg and had been Research Associate at Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, 1989 and 2009 CEO of the Planning Office BPW Urban Planning, Research and Consulting in Hamburg, 2004 – 2009 Professor for Urban Renewal and Sustainable Development at the Institute for Regional and Urban Development, Technical University of Berlin, 2009 – 2011 Head of the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development (BBSR) within the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR), 2014 – 2017 Director of the Institute of Urban and Regional Planning at TU Berlin, Lectures on Urban Development at the TU Campus in El Gouna, Egypt 2011-2016. Research on Future Megacities on behalf of BMBF between 2006 and 2015, 2012-2015 member of the UN Ad Hoc Expert Group on the International Guidelines of Urban and Territorial Planning, Research on Urban Design Thinking and urban Transformation since 2012.
