Dr.-Ing. Krzysztof Piotrowski was born in Zielona Gora, Poland on November 8, 1979. He received his Master degree in Computer Science from the University of Zielona Gora in Poland in 2004. Since then, he is with the IHP in Frankfurt (Oder) in Germany, where he is a member of the Sensor Networks and Middleware Platforms (SNMP) group.

In 2011 he received his PhD in Computer Science from the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg in Germany.

His research interests include mobile and wireless communication with the focus on privacy and security issues and resource-constrained devices – Wireless Sensor Networks.

He was coordinating the FP7 project e-balance and is responsible for energy grid related research within the SNMP group at the IHP.

He published more than 50 refereed technical articles in the area of security and privacy, as well as on sensor networks and their applications, including smart grid solutions.

He is/was active in several European and national (German) research projects, including UbiSec&Sens (EU), Wsan4Cip (EU), FeuerWhere (DE), Sens4U (DE), ATEM (DE), e-balance (EU), SCHUWA (DE).
